Shopping with a 4 year old

It is official. My baby turned 4 on Tuesday and I can hardly believe it! To me, he will always be my "little Roo" but he is growing up so fast. I forget how fast until he catches me off guard with his "grown-up" comments and observations. I desperately needed a new pair of summer work shoes so after picking Riley up from daycare yesterday, we headed to Payless. All the way there, he complained that he just wanted to go home, but once we were in the store he was distracted by helping me pick out the perfect pair of shoes. I decided that there was nothing there I liked so we drove accross the street to DSW. If you have ever been to DSW then you know it is like shoe heavan. There are shoes everywhere making it impossible to make a quick purchase. Riley and I began down the isles and once again, he picked out several pairs of shoes he thought I should try on. Eventually, we found a pair that we both liked but, there were so many other shoes in the store, I had to make sure I didnt miss a better pair so, we walked up and down each isle. Riley quickly became bored and started telling me his bones hurt, he didnt want to walk anymore and he wanted to go home so we headed for the register. As we were getting close, another isle full of shoes caught my eye and I began to drift in that direction. Riley asked me where I was going and reminded me that he wanted to go home. When I told him that I just wanted to look at one more pair he replied "Mom! You'r killin me! Let's go" and proceeded to drag me to the checkout. OMG! He sounded just like me when I am trying to get him to do something! I guess it's true that you do turn into your parents.
